Sumaira Iqbal, MD, is a UW Health family medicine doctor. Dr. Iqbal provides comprehensive health care for all members of the family. She offers preventive health services, including vaccinations and health screenings. Dr. Iqbal cares for people with chronic health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and asthma. She also addresses acute (occurring suddenly) health concerns like colds, flu and minor injuries.
She has a special clinical interest in preventive health. Dr. Iqbal enjoys developing meaningful relationships with her patients over years of care. She feels privileged to serve as their primary point of contact for all health concerns that may arise.
While she makes recommendations about her patients’ health, her patients make the ultimate decisions about their care. Dr. Iqbal believes this shared decision-making is critical to a successful long-term patient-provider relationship.
Dr. Iqbal speaks English and Urdu, allowing her to provide effective health services to a wider patient population.
Outside of work, Dr. Iqbal enjoys reading and spending time with her three children.
My care philosophy is all about teamwork. I work to determine how my patient sees themselves, their health and their health goals.
