About

Susan Hubanks, NP, is a UW Health Kids nurse practitioner in pediatric neurosurgery.

She cares for babies and children who have medical conditions involving the brain, spine and other parts of the nervous system. These issues include brain tumors, hydrocephalus (a buildup of fluid in the brain) and spinal deformities.

Susan works with patients and their families in both the hospital and outpatient clinic. She provides education and sees patients before and after their surgical procedures.

With a passion for helping children, Susan and her colleagues run a special clinic to treat children with skull deformities. These children have heads that aren’t shaped properly and heads with flat spots. (These conditions are called plagiocephaly.)

When caring for her young patients, Susan listens to their concerns. She explains their conditions and treatment options using terms they can understand. And she works to relieve each family’s anxiety by providing helpful information.

Susan’s care philosophy is to treat people the way she would want someone to treat her own family members.

During her free time, Susan enjoys hiking, running, reading and painting.

I treat my young patients the way I would want my own child treated. I work to help each child live a healthy productive life.
