About
Michelle LeRoy Hatheway, PhD, is a UW Health psychologist with a doctoral degree as well as certification in behavioral and cognitive psychology. Michelle cares for bariatric (weight loss) patients who want to make lifestyle changes. As a health psychologist, she works with them to change their behaviors, thoughts and habits. Michelle helps people prepare for bariatric surgery and then continues to provide post-surgery support.
Michelle enjoys helping patients when they think they’re stuck and helping them to become “unstuck.” She provides care without judgment and works with her patients to set goals and make changes that fit their needs. Michelle finds it rewarding to join her patients in their journey to improved health and overall well-being. By the end of their journey, they are often feeling much healthier and stronger and their mental health has improved.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and dog and playing trivia.
I enjoy health psychology because I get to see the changes that people make over time when they start to focus on their health, prioritize themselves and make time for self-care.
