Acerca de

Sam Lubner, MD, FACP, is a hematologist and oncologist at UW Health and an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where he directs the Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowship program. He specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies.

Dr. Lubner cares for patients with esophageal cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, bile duct cancer, colon cancer and rectal cancer. His goal is to balance the needs of his patients with the best treatment options available.

Dr. Lubner believes caring for another is a privilege and it is crucial to treat each patient as a whole person, not just as a disease. He meets his patients on their own terms and incorporates their goals for success into their treatment plan.

He works closely with medical students, residents and fellows to ensure the next generation of doctors provide evidence-based treatment with a focus on compassionate care for the patient. He also conducts research into new therapies to treat gastrointestinal cancers.

When we can treat a disease for a cure, that is a great thing. When we use our tools to maximize a patient's quality of life, however they define it, that is a real win for me.
