Miranda Bice, MD, is a UW Health orthopedic spine surgeon. She's also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Bice treats patients with degenerative conditions of the spine, including lumbar (lower back), cervical (neck) and thoracic (middle of the back), who would benefit from surgical intervention. The most common procedures are lumbar microdiscectomy (removing part of a disc) and laminectomy (removing a spinal bone to reduce pressure on a nerve). She also performs arthroplasty (replacing a damaged spinal disc with an artificial one) and anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (removing a worn disc in the neck).
Dr. Bice knows that surgery can be overwhelming. She provides options other than surgery when she can and gives her patients as much information as possible. Dr. Bice listens carefully and helps her patients decide the best treatment for their needs. It’s very important to her that everyone is on the same page.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Bice enjoys community activities and listening to bluegrass music.
My hope for my patients is that they are happy with the decision they made, the care they received and that they are doing better than when we met.
