The Pulmonary Medicine Program at UW Health focuses on your breathing and lung health. We treat chronic respiratory diseases and provide care to people who are critically ill. We also help with sleep disorders.

The UW Health lung transplant program is a certified adult and pediatric lung transplant program. Our experts have cared for complex patients for more than 30 years. We have excellent outcomes and shorter wait times.

Through our research and clinical trials, we look for better ways to diagnose lung disease and improve treatment options. Our research areas include: 

  • Critical care medicine, including adult respiratory distress syndrome 

  • Immunologic and hypersensitivity lung diseases, including asthma, sarcoidosis and interstitial fibrosis

  • Respiratory failure due to COPD and neuromuscular disease
