Taha El-Shahat, MD, is a UW Health family medicine doctor and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. El-Shahat provides primary health care for patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly.
Dr. El-Shahat diagnoses and treats a wide array of acute (sudden) and chronic (long-lasting) health conditions. He has a clinical interest in treating pulmonary diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma.
As a primary care doctor, Dr. El-Shahat provides preventive health care services such as annual physicals and performs minor in-office procedures, including vasectomies, IUD insertions and other family planning methods. He also performs procedures for diagnostic and cosmetic purposes.
When working with patients, Dr. El-Shahat strives to build partnerships based on open communication and trust. He listens to understand patients’ goals and motivations, then works together with them to create a plan that addresses both their medical and personal needs. Dr. El-Shahat is committed to empowering patients with the knowledge and tools they need to be actively involved in their own health care.
Outside of work, Dr. El-Shahat enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors, hiking, kayaking and swimming.
I enjoy building relationships with patients and helping them feel better and get healthier.
